Ryan Spann put the heavyweight division on notice earlier tonight (Sat., April 25, 2026) at UFC Vegas 116 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Marcus Buchecha, with a devastating third-round knockout (punch).

Fight fans have grown accustom to seeing Spann compete at 205 pounds, but he’s very much a heavyweight these days. The 6’5” veteran weighed in at a whopping 264 pounds during Friday’s weigh ins and finally looked like he was settled in as a heavyweight. Spann was 1-1 in the division heading into Saturday night so his clash against Buchecha was going to be a telling tale.

The first two rounds were fairly sloppy, but Spann certainly had the advantage with his agility and athleticism. Buchecha was pretty lack luster with his offensive attacks and it allowed Spann to operate freely. Eventually, Spann’s long punches were able to get through as he slammed a huge right hand into Buchecha’s chin in the third round. Buchecha toppled to the canvas like a falling red wood and the referee slid in for the stoppage.
