“Sunshine State” continuing to rain on victory parades.

UFC lightweight Chris Padilla was announced as the winner of his MarQuel Mederos fight on the UFC 327 “Prelims” card last month in Miami, only to see his victory overturned an hour later thanks to a scoring error. “Taco” promptly submitted a formal appeal contesting the change; but was summarily denied.

“Florida commission responded to our protest, they denied us,” Padilla’s management told MMA Fighting. “They stand by their scorecards. Result stays.”

The official result stands as a majority draw.

The 30 year-old Padilla (17-6-1), who joined the promotion back in early 2024, came into the Mederos fight on the strength of a seven-fight winning streak with six of those victories coming by way of knockout or decision. Similarly, the 29 year-old Mederos (11-1-1) had won nine in a row heading into UFC 327.

Perhaps an immediate rematch can settle this debate once and for all.
